Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled and experienced Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver to join a leading consumer business in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe transportation, loading, and delivery of goods to various customers while ensuring compliance with road safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.

  • Grade 10 literacy level (verbal and numerical literacy).

  • Valid Code EC driver's licence.

  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP/DGP).

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience driving ultra-heavy motor vehicles.

  • Must be 25 years of age or older.

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

  • Clean criminal record.

  • Safe driving record.

  • Knowledge of defensive driving techniques.

  • Understanding of vehicle components and their functions.

  • Knowledge of emergency and defect reporting procedures.

  • Ability to conduct vehicle inspections and operate a fire extinguisher.

  • Understanding of vehicle loading techniques and load securing procedures.

  • Ability to maximise vehicle efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicles for trips and operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles safely.

  • Load, transport, and offload goods according to company procedures.

  • Ensure vehicles are not overloaded in accordance with the National Road Traffic Act.

  • Secure loads before departure.

  • Open and close tarpaulins where required.

  • Complete and manage all required transport documentation.

  • Operate offloading equipment or supervise the offloading process.

  • Ensure goods are delivered safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain high standards of customer service and professionalism.

  • Report vehicle defects, incidents, and emergencies promptly.

  • Perform housekeeping duties for vehicles, uniforms, and PPE.

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations.

  • Carry out any reasonable instructions issued by supervisors.

Additional Requirements

Successful candidates must be willing to undergo and successfully complete:

  • Medical evaluation.

  • USCS training modules.

  • Company induction process.

  • Practical driving assessment.

  • Criminal record verification.
