Purpose of the Job

The Officer: Finance Support will provide regional support in administering claims payments. The role includes ensuring an effective system of claims payments, resolving stakeholder queries, and driving continuous improvement in the claims payment process.

Key Responsibilities

Claims Payment Process Management

  • Verify and approve claims payments, ensuring accuracy, validity, and completeness of supporting documentation.
  • Confirm the correctness of payee, banking details, and amounts, while checking for duplicate payments.
  • Implement internal controls to eliminate duplicate payments.

Financial Management

  • Apply financial management principles to ensure accurate processing of claims payments.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures for financial transactions.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy in batch reports.

Reporting

  • Assist with preparing and submitting financial reports.
  • Contribute to the development of functional reporting systems for management and performance tracking.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Ensure the effectiveness of claims payment services and report non-compliance with RAF processes.
  • Address and resolve queries related to claims payments in a timely manner.

General Administration

  • Identify training and development needs for self.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and assist in inducting new employees.
  • Carry out administrative duties related to the role.

Stakeholder Management

  • Assist internal and external stakeholders with inquiries and requests for information.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure timely invoicing and payment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Finance, Commerce, or Accounting-related field.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a financial environment.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in financial software packages and SAP.
  • Knowledge of cash and bank management principles.
  • Understanding of PFMA, accounting principles, public sector finance, and corporate governance.
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination abilities.
  • Personal mastery, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Client service orientation.
