Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR)

Key Responsibilities

  • Build professional relationships and strategic partnerships with key personnel in assigned Key Account customers.

  • Assess, clarify, and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis.

  • Advise customers on equipment life cycles, maintenance, and replacement budgets to reduce costs and improve uptime.

  • Assist in preparing quotes for parts, service, and equipment management solutions.

  • Understand and promote the dealership’s full product and service offerings.

  • Market aftersales products and services to existing and new customers.

  • Act as the liaison between Barloworld and key customer accounts.

  • Participate in business planning and budgeting activities.

  • Inspect failed machines, components, and parts with technical representatives; provide training to customers where necessary.

  • Utilize Salesforce for managing sales opportunities, customer meetings, calls, and inspections.

  • Submit monthly reports with sales forecasts to management.

  • Conduct and document machine and undercarriage inspections; meet set targets.

  • Forecast undercarriage replacements and advise customers accordingly.

  • Discuss inspection findings and solutions with customers.

  • Promote and sell Caterpillar marketing initiatives and service-related parts.

  • Achieve targeted budget and manage expenses effectively.

  • Meet monthly operations and customer KPIs.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12

  • Qualified Diesel or Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic (or equivalent qualification)

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with Caterpillar equipment as an artisan

  • Sales/Marketing Diploma or Certificate (B. Tech preferred)


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of Caterpillar and related product brands

  • Business development and customer relationship management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing

  • Financial acumen and basic budgeting skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce experience preferred)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills

  • High attention to detail and ability to influence decisions
