Job Purpose

To support efficient, cost-effective product distribution and sales in the informal/general trade sector, while training and leading delivery teams and improving route performance and customer relationships.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Valid Driver’s License (Code 10) with PDP

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a sales-related role

  • Previous experience as a driver salesman is beneficial


Key Responsibilities

Distribution & Delivery

  • Manage efficient product distribution and optimised delivery routes

  • Verify customer GPS mapping for route planning

  • Ensure delivery documentation matches loading lists

  • Monitor truck utilisation (loaves per km)

  • Reconcile placed, delivered, and returned orders

Sales Tracking & Reporting

  • Track daily driver sales and returns

  • Submit daily sales data

  • Compare sales performance with targets

  • Monitor informal trade pricing and submit weekly surveys

Customer & Market Engagement

  • Update and manage customer data (new and existing)

  • Address informal trade price strategies and monitor RSP compliance

  • Gain new business and manage customer queries

  • Build long-term customer relationships

  • Improve sales volume and market share in general trade

Team Leadership & Performance

  • Support, train, and lead driver and van assistant teams

  • Use route riding system to visit all customers

  • Provide performance evaluations and training

  • Handle disciplinary processes if needed
